Appearance:
Mai is an an average sized girl with long navy blue hair, crimson red eyes, a slightly pale complexion and soft curves, as well as large, DD cup breasts... much to Noel`s dismay.
As a member of the Magus Infantry, Mai normally wears the same, blue and white uniform as Noel does, with black stockings held by black garter belts- because the standard issue overknee socks kept slipping off her legs, tripping her, high blue steel tipped heeled boots, blue sleeves (without the red armbands, which is an exception because she had been temporarily hospitalized for accidently strangleing herself with them), white gloves, a black rubber top and a blue Beret with her insignia and rank on it. Her back, shoulders, armpits and upper thighs are bare- the place where her red tie would ususally be, just above her clevage, is also bare.
Loyalty:
Mai is loyal to the Novus Orbis Librarium, her friends (which includes Ragna, but she never had gotten to know his name, so she doesn´t know that he´s wanted dead or alive) and especially Noel.
Personality:
An uneasy, quiet kind of individual, Mai is still not fully used to being a woman after being turned into one by accident. While she cannot deny a certain kind of attraction to men, she`s mostly focused on women and blames the bisexuality on her female hormoes rather than her mind. Mai is not the fiercest fighter, more of a pacifist if those even exist in these days, but as she sucks at being very diplomatic, she gets into fights often enough.
As a person, she´s a caring and soft hearted type that couldn´t hurt a fly even if she tried.
While having a certain kind of attraction towards Noel, Cajun, Makoto and Tsubaki, its most likely not love... probably. Who knows.
Weaponry:
Mai`s expertise in dual wielding blades brought her to use a pair of Kodachi swords, which are very sharp and dense, hard enough to smash a rock with the backside of the blade and at the same time, lightweight and flexible.
Abilities:
Mai`s most noteworthy ability is her "Super taste" which allows her to taste anything and anyone and read the thoughts of whoever created it- or in case of a living being, their own thoughts. This has given Mai the handicap of being unable to enjoy most foods, one exception being Noel`s cooking- because while it is incredibly unhealthly, Noel is cooking with all her passion and love without any vile thoughts crossing her mind. This ability often comes in handy when adventuring, such as to check for hidden traps or to look for a clue to solve a riddle. This ability also plays into her part as being the Intermediary Grimiore.
Being the Intermediary Grimiore, Mai can take the abilites or properties of a living being or of anything she tasted and transfer it into another person. Depending on the kind of power she is storing in her body, she will feel very dizzy and weak until the power is released from her. Therefore she doesn´t use this much, but often it cannot be avoided- as such, she`s made a habit of kissing the wall after each meal to give Noel`s extremely dangerous cooking ability to an unsentinent rock formation.
In addition to that, she knows some basic Ars for healing, one to immobilize criminals with and some repellant ars for defense.
History:
Mai was born into the Hazuki family as their oldest son, and had to study for a majority of his childhood learning the rules and regulations, the history and the politics of the Duodecim. As such, a childhood in the meaning of the word did not exist for him... until he came in contact with a Grimiore that was located in the Hazuki familys library, which upon use turned him into a woman.. and gave him the condition that Mai now knows as Super taste.
Fearing a violent and harsh reaction from her oppressive father, Mai fled to Torifune under the name of Mai Natsume- despite having attended the school before, she had to reapply as a first year student, take the Ars Magus Applitude test again, where she met Noel, Makoto and Tsubaki, which quickly became her friends. She shared a room with Cajun Faycott, an undercover agent from Sector Seven and also one of her friends- together they formed an all girl team named Remix Heart which´s only purpose was to find the Azure Grimiore, which was supposed to cure Mai of her Super Taste... and, secretly, she hoped it would cure her of her feminity as well. Unfortunely for her, after coming across the Azure, she didn`t realize what it was.. or who Ragna was, so her time at the Adcadamy ended without finding a cure. Team Remix Heart was broken up at the final day of school, and Mai was ordered to serve in the 14th Magus Division from that point on. Since then, however, reports have been piling up about unsual activity in Kagutsuchi, such as Ragna the Bloodedge appearing there, Jin Kisaragi having deserted his post, the entire branch of the Librarium being completely empty and an odd, looming presence of evil over the entire city... Newly appointed Warrant Officer Mai Natsume investigates it under orders of the Librarium.
