Name:
Charlotte "Mama Bear" Timide
Gender:
Female
Age:
31
Race:
Human
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
The first thing most people tend to notice about Charlotte is her towering height, as well as her somewhat androgynous appearance. At a clear 6 foot 5, she hovers over the majority of men and women in Kagutsuchi. The peculiarities only continue from their, with her wearing of Nordic fashioned plate-armour borrowing some designs from NOL garb and tunics. She is sometimes noted for wearing a large horned helmet befitting of legendary Vikings, yet she rarely seems to equip said helmet with the belief that it makes combat "unfair". Beyond this she is armed at all times, her warhammer and shield remaining strapped to her back as well as a small bottle of mead on her belt - not to mention a bare of brass knuckles, "just in case" as she puts it.
Loyalty:
The NOL – Attempted to join the NOL on no more than four occasions, yet was rejected every time due to her "impetuous" attitude and lack of discipline under orders.
The Halt – A popular and sleazy fight pit in the lower levels of Kagutsuchi, it was here that Charlotte made a name for herself as the popular "Mama Bear". She would go on to be the Halt's most popular fighter, famed for dispatching armed foes with her fists alone.
Ikaruga - Following the dissolution of the Halt, Charlotte was left with no faction to deem her own. That was until she heard the stories of Ikaruga through Bang Shishigami, and the suffering they were subjected to at the hands of the NOL. Bearing her own grudge against the NOL, she offered her aid to Bang Shishigami and his fellow Ikarugans for "proving their worth" to her.
Relations:Jin Kisaragi (Major commanding the clear-out of the Halt, possibly the "Bear Tamer" of the pit?)
Litchi Faye-Ling (Granted refuge following the Halt incident, Charlotte deems her "The Smart One")
Bang Shishigami (Intrigued by his stories, and respectful of his abilities. Aims to assist him in achieving his own goals.)
Ragna the Bloodedge (Believes he may have what it takes to assist her on her quest)
Personality:From the age she could swing her fists, Charlotte possessed a simple yet potent form of thought based surely on proving strength and ability. A strong-hearted and proud warrior, she is extremely protective of women and children to the point of gaining her title of "Mama Bear" in the Halt fight pits. However, in firm contrast to this she is highly critical and judging of all men by default. Only if a male is able to defeat her in unarmed combat would she grant them respect, offering her own strength for their use in battle.
Beyond her code of war, Charlotte is generally a respectable and jolly person to be with. She is notable for her appreciation of a good drink, as well as her affection for good cooking - another way to earn her respect, although she'd likely deny it.
Weaponry:"Toothpick" - Charlotte's trusty warhammer has been by her side since the very beginning of her quest, crushing all sorts of bones and dreams that stood in her way. The large maul is notable for resembling an enlarged construction hammer, possessing a hammer at one side and a pick at the other. Charlotte often alternates between the two, smashing foes with one side and slicing them with the other if need be.
"Echo" - A surprisingly advanced crossbow with a revolver-like chamber, Charlotte loads "Echo" with hand-crafted shards of freezing cold glass. The shards are then launched en masse at targets, encumbering and wounding them greatly. These glass fragments can then be shattered at command, causing grievous injury to the target. Being a lover of a brawl, Charlotte rarely relies on this weapon.
"The Throne of Glass" - The Timide family has never been renowned, yet within its ranks it holds a firm belief in a ongoing Dynasty. The Throne of Glass is seen as the symbol that the household stands by, being wielded by the current head of the house at all times to be passed on to kin they deem suitable as successors. The Throne of Glass is a large translucent kiteshield, bearing the white rose of the Timide family on its front. Due to Charlotte's fighting style she keeps it bound to her back in combat by a single strap, although she often swings it forward onto her arm in order to deflect and parry dangerous blows.
Abilities:Trained in the art of war from an early age, Charlotte has an absurd mastery of weaponary and hand-to-hand combat mixed with the endurance and strength of a high-class duelist. She has evolved past pain to a degree, deeming it as a rewarding sensation from effort and battle. Finally, amongst her abilities rises a singular supernatural power possessed by all those who bear the blood of the Timide Household - "The Howl". "The Howl" allows one to project their cries of war to an extensive degree, sending projectile waves of sound and pressure ahead. Charlotte utilises this primarily as a means to detonate the shards of "Echo", yet at dire moments she may use it to stagger enemies and keep them at bay.
History:Rejection can be a powerful thing, as Charlotte Timide was quick to learn. Little is known about her past, but it was clear that she attempted to join the NOL on no more than four occasions yet was deemed unsuitable for their ranks due to her "impetuous" attitude and lack of discipline under orders. Disappointed that her strength and pride was not what the NOL were after, she turned to other outlets to express her might in. It was at this point that she discovered the illegal fight pits of the more shady areas of Kagutsuchi, where the only rule of battle was to avoid spilling too much blood if possible - it being a bother to clean.
Charlotte joined the show of one of the more popular fight pits, "The Halt", where she became one of its most popular attractions and fighters. It was during her winning streaks that she deemed the fierce name of "Mama Bear", after her trademark approach to combat where she would offer her warhammer to her foe and task them the defeat her, only to bring them down and out bare-handed. While she disliked the shady politics of the job, it paid well and allowed her to prove herself, as well as find glory in battle for all to see.
However, at some point in time her winning streak came to a halt in the form of a young, mysterious fighter that entered the ring. The man defeated her in combat, not only beating her in her trademark challenge but also defeating her once more with it reversed - she was armed, he was armless. While many believed she was ashamed by her defeat, she was the exact opposite. She gained a burning respect and attraction to the man who had tamed her, and the two became close companions on the Halt ring. Rumours spread of a supposed one-sided crush from Charlotte to the man, however she was quick to deny these allegations - perhaps a bit too quick. The mysterious "Bear Tamer" would later disappear from the pits, much to the disappointment of paying spectators dreaming of the day where Mama Bear would one day defeat him.
Barely months after the man's departure, NOL forces cracked down on illegal fight pits and raided the Halt ring, ordering immediate eviction of its residence and closure of all pit activity. It was initially peaceful - if not grudging - as fighters and dealers were escorted away from the premises, yet one of the fighters made the mistake of starting an argument with the NOL Major commanding the dissolution. Within moments a desparate battle erupted, thugs and warriors who had no other means of living but the pits taking up arms against the NOL soldiers, among the rebels being Charlotte herself. Alas, the rabble was outnumbered and outgunned, and eventually the entire population of the Halt pit were either dead or captured by NOL forces. Severely wounded in battle, Charlotte grudgingly took cover and watched as fellow fighters were dragged away by troops, the frozen glare of their commander filling her with a sense of unease and familiarity. As they departed she slinked away, yet she did not get far for the agony of her wounds were far too great for her to overcome. Stumbling to the ground, she collapsed into an unconscious heap and awaited the slow, arduous death of blood loss that she'd always feared.
But then hope came.
Some time later she awoke, her wounds bandaged and her lungs very much functional. She had been inducted into a clinic, where her wounds had been treated by a doctor named Litchi Faye-Ling. The doctor informed her of her circumstances; of how she'd been taken to her clinic by a man of the name Bang Shishigami. Charlotte
politely demanded that she be told the news, which the doctor
calmly gave her - The NOL had closed all fight pits, and with that the legendary "Mama Bear" was no more.
Yet Charlotte Timide still lived on.
The proud warrior woman offered her services to the doctor, yet she was quick to turn down her offer. Idle chatter eventually turned to the identity of her savior, who was apparently an able-bodied warrior with his own grudge against the men who had ruined Charlotte's plans. Rising from the hospital with complete ignorance to her wounds, she collected her equipment and began to hunt the first lead to the future.
She'd raise a glass to Bang Shishigami's name.
She'd raise a glass to his own hatred, and to his own quest.
She'd raise a glass to honour, to unity.
And to war. RP samples:
"Come on, if you think you're hard enough!" Charlotte roared, wielding her warhammer with trained grace. With three swift conks in rhythm, she smashed the blunt pummel of the weapon against her helmet, her teeth a row of jagged daggers as she assumed a fighting stance.
"Try and make a dent, I dare you!"
"The NOL and me are like wine and mead." The Mama Bear mumbled, pulling out her large mead bottle. She briefly tipped it back, glugging down a large amount of ale like a professional bar thug. Eventually she pulled it away, exhaling in satisfaction.
"... One's for the bold, one's for the sold.""First one on the ground loses, whelp." she declared, unstrapping her gauntlets and letting them clatter to the ground to reveal two brutish, burnt and scarred fists of fury. Charlotte bounced on the spot like a boxing star, getting the blood pumping with a couple of hooks to the air.
"Well then, go on. Let's see what you're made of."
"You stay safe now, dear." Charlotte advised, patting the shorter woman on the shoulder. She waggled an advising finger at her, smiling warmly amidst a sincere visage.
"If bad men come, just call for me. I'll make them go away, I promise."
