| Name: Chaucer Lestrade (Referred to as "The Wickerman" by cult members, and "Good McGooderson" by Youna Amanogawa)
Gender: Male
Age: Mid thirties, true birthdate not certain.
Race: Human.
Appearance: When stripped down to the bare basics, Chaucer isn't really a man who stands out from the crowd. With sloppy brown hair and a lanky build, you could probably mistake him as a generic member of the lower-class citizenry. With an eyepatch over his right eye and an elegant monocle on his right, his otherwise plain and rough face is really his only defining physical feature. Beyond that he is clothed in a simple collection of garments: A white shirt and tie, a pair of formal trousers and two pointed shoes. Over this is a long grey coat reaching down just a few inches over his knees, remaining unbuttoned at almost all times.
Allegiances: The Cult of Bloodedge - Chaucer was born and raised within the Cult: An every-growing religious sect that believes that the legendary hero Bloodedge still lives on, and to this day searches for him. It was here in a strictly male abbey that he learned the skill of a modern assassin, and how to cloak into the crowd after a swift and silent murder of an opponent his elders deemed "unwanted". After twenty-five years of acting as the cult's Inquisitor, he was given a new mission of holy merit: To find a man known as Ragna the Bloodedge. Ragna - Convinced by the cult that he is Bloodedge reborn, Chaucer was granted an infinte amount of time away from the cult's reach to hunt him down for the sake of the gods. This one choice from his elders would end up to be their downfall, as the elusive Ragna was always a step ahead of his pursuer. As time went on, Chaucer spoke with and met other individuals without the influence of the Cult controlling their opinions, and hastily began to change. Independent - After pro-longed exposure to those outside of his cult, Chaucer has realised that his people speak in lies. Realising that he truly was just a device in their own grand scheme of indoctrination, Chaucer cast aside his Wickerman identity and began to traverse the world alone as an assassin for hire. Assassinating mob members and businessmen isn't exactly his cup of tea, but at least it pays well.
Personality: During his time as a member of the Cult of Bloodedge, Chaucer was bound by code to follow a strict regime of prayer and obedience. Blood donation was a core part of his prayers, and the mindlessly loyal Chaucer would gladly offer his own for use by his elders. It wasn't until his hunt for Ragna that a true personality began to surface - an unstable one at best. As an independent from his religion Chaucer has become emotionally sensitive and prone to outbursts of jealousy. With an easy to bruise ego and the social skills of a dried twig, he appears to be developing his own opinions and feelings as he speaks with others and discovers the world he had never had access to in the past.
Weaponry: As an Inquisitor in the Cult of Bloodedge, Chaucer was expected to arm himself to carry out his tasks. While he often relies on numerous weapons, his most dearest tools of war would be his trusty kukri knife "Deepest Sympathies" and his elongated billhook "The Rake". These weapons a powerful in quick succession, but are terribly inadequate for use in prolonged duels. Chaucer has since kept these weapons following his departure from the cult.
Abilities: While trained in combat and tasked with defending the Bloodedge, Chaucer isn't exactly that powerful in terms of sheer strength. While he is certainly stronger than your average man, his body is weak and not suitable for taking large punishment. To combat this, he relies on quick reflexes and great agility to lure his enemies in battle. Beyond this Chaucer is but a human being, possessing no abnormal abilities whatsoever.
History: Not much is known about the foundation of the Cult of Bloodedge, but what is known is that it has a great stake in the business of child kidnapping. He must've been mere months old when he was taken from his parents, drawn into the church for training as a priest and tool. Initiation started with the sacrifice of a single eye - the granting of half of your sight and comprehension to the gods that made you. Prayers in the morning, training with a blade in the evening, Chaucer was already a capable throat-slitter by the ripe old age of eight being sent on missions to murder those "unwanted" by his higher ups. Heretics, drug dealers, mob leaders - to those in the slums, the church came across as a sort of police group keeping the area safe from corruption. While the Cult didn't stretch far, it was seen with respect by various families. With an outspoken opposition to the NOL, who wouldn't approve of them in the slums? By the time he was in his thirties, Chaucer had been the head of the Cult's Inquisitors (Their assassins) for over ten years. Infamously deemed as the "Wickerman" by his peers, the Cult's elders saw him as the most reliable man to head their first Holy Crusade for god. News had reached their ears of a man known as "Ragna the Bloodedge", who had become rather unpopular amongst the NOL. He possessed the powers and traits of the god of the Cult's scriptures, and it seemed they were one step closer to achieving their paradise. Chaucer was released from his duties as a priest and given a new task: To find Ragna the Bloodedge, lead him to the Cult, and assist him in achieving his duty as the Bloodedge of the holy texts. With only the coat on his back and the knife on his belt, Chaucer was sent into a foreign world where the NOL ruled and poverty seemed extinct. Trailing one step behind the Bloodedge throughout his journey in Kagutsuchi, Chaucer slowly began to meet others that had never been influenced by the Cult's teachings. Hearing opinions outside of his absolute ways were a complete shock to his system, with the words he heard eventually leading him to a conclusion of his own. The texts were a lie. The Cult he had followed were wrong in every way, and he was left with a significant hole in his life. Renouncing his faith in shock and disgust, he was left with nothing to return to and no morals or duties to abide alongside. Slowly he began to embrace the life of Kagutsuchi, becoming a traveler upon the streets. Relying on his assassin skills to buy his daily bread, befriending people such as Youna Amanogawa as he went. With a new lease upon life, Chaucer began to harsh and perilous journey of discovering the social norms and responsibilities that he had never been able to embrace as a priest. Love being the highest mountain amongst them.
RP sample: Chaucer quickly began to brush his sleeve against his foggied monocle, trying to think of an excuse for forgetting the girl's name (Youna Amanogawa). They had indeed crossed paths a few times before, and one thing lead to another before she started addressing him like some sort of cheap comic book hero. He tried to respond to her calmly with the phrase "Ah, a pleasure to see you again madam.", but the spasmodic jitter of his jaw brought on by both social nerves and a secret yet throbbing urge to pet the cat creature's (Kageokaka) ears made it sound more like "Ur, uh plarsur tur see yur ageen!" | |

| I see no problem here, the slight edit really doesn't affect my decision here, in fact I say more power to ya Chaucer. I approve as well. | |
